UPDATE July 3:
The Coldstream wildfire is now reported as out.
The .08 hectare blaze, discovered July 2, is suspected to be human-caused.
Coldstream and Lavington firefighters joined BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) crews in dousing the blaze off the King Eddy Forest Service Road
"Firefighters from both halls arrived on scene soon after our initial page-out (1:40 p.m.), and the BCWS helicopter that was dispatched could be seen circling and assessing the fire with their Initial Attack crew out of Vernon en route," the Coldstream firehall reports. "Quick action by the first-arriving firefighters circled the 80 square metre fire with forestry hose and hand tools in the forest above the road, in difficult terrain."
The BCWS helicopter made eight to 10 bucket drops, making the fire manageable for the combined crews on the ground, who were able to contain it.
"Thank you to Coldstream Ranch, who have been conscientious about undertaking wildfire mitigation work on their grazing lease in this area, and this area is already on their radar for clean-up," the firehall said.
"Quick action by all three responding agencies kept this fire from growing larger, and we were lucky to have had the rain that we did last week. As temperatures remain high and dry now into July and the rest of summer, please use common sense and diligence when recreating, at home and in the wilderness."
