The Territory of the People is experiencing new life in Spences Bridge.
The Rev. Linda LaGroix of St. Alban's Anglican Church in Ashcroft has been leading a monthly church service in Spences Bridge for well over a year. Under her leadership, and with the hard work of some dedicated locals, it soon became apparent that the monthly church service was becoming more entrenched within the community.
Attendance was steady, and slowly growing. A dream of a more permanent fixture began to emerge.
That dream became an aspirational vision for Reverend Linda and the congregation after a Christmas service in Spences Bridge. That service was blessed with a significant congregation of 25 folks, who took the conversation a step further while sharing a scrumptious Christmas supper after the service.
The appetite for the Christmas supper was matched by the appetite to do something special in Spences Bridge. Excitement was in the air. Could the vision become a reality?
At the annual meeting of St. Albans, in consultation with Bishop Clara, they got their answer. Yes! The parish of St. Alban’s entered into a covenant of support for the community of Spences Bridge to become “St. Hilda’s Mission Parish”.
That dream became reality at a very special service, where a powerful message from Reverend Linda and Bishop Clara had emotions running high. Bishop Clara then shared the actual agreement with the congregation, and on March 23 St. Hilda’s Mission Parish became official. Services will be held in the Improvement District building (former school).
