A van travelling slowly at 2:30 in the morning got the attention of patrolling Salmon Arm RCMP.

On May 23, after watching the vehicle, a Dodge Caravan, going "well below the speed limit," police looked up its licence plate and found the registered owner had an expired driver’s licence.

"A traffic stop was conducted and alcohol was noticeably detected coming from the vehicle," said media relations officer Const. Andrew Hodges in a news release.

The 39-year-old female driver provided two breath samples that resulted in "fail," and was issued a 90-day driving prohibition while the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Prohibited driver

At 5 a.m. on May 27, while on patrol around 3rd Street SW, Salmon Arm RCMP looked up the licence plate of a grey Toyota Tacoma, finding the registered owner was prohibited from driving. Hodges said a traffic stop was conducted and the 41-year-old female driver was confirmed to be the registered owner, who admitted she was not supposed to be driving.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days, and the woman was served a future court date.
