The District of Sicamous will soon be racing along the information superhighway with the installation of a fibre-optic network next year.
The district recently announced the new service that will put information at people's fingertips faster, with service provider Fibre Connect to begin installation in the first quarter of 2026.
"Property owners will have the option to connect to high-speed fibre internet," the district said in a release, "offering faster internet speeds and improved security compared to traditional cable or copper networks."
Once the fibre optics system is in place, TELUS will lease network capacity from Fibre Connect to deliver service to the community. When it's time for residents to decide whether they want a fibre connection at their home or business, Fibre Connect representatives will go door to door to provide more information and ask for approval to connect.
Further details will be provided as available, and more information can be found at fibreconnect.com or by emailing info@fibreconnect.com.
