The District of Sicamous is redirecting traffic to alternate parking areas as construction on the Bruhn Bridge is limiting options at the Beach Park and Finlayson Boat Launch.
Prior to the influx of summer traffic, the district announced on its website a "new public parking plan that will launch this sunny season," with a map of the newly designated areas.
For people going to the beach, parking is currently available for standard vehicles at Main Street Landing on the south side of Young Crescent, and at the lot out behind the park on Silver Sands Road. Pending completion, there will also be a spot for overflow parking at the other district-owned property on Silver Sands Road, as well as two lots at the west end of Finlayson Street.
For boat launch access, primary truck and trailer parking will be available in the Finlayson Place parking lot at 217 Finlayson, with an overflow area also available at the lot on Silver Sands, with both areas still pending completion.
"Please note that our public works team is preparing these lots for public parking," the announcement reads. "We will continue to provide updates on when the parking lots are available to visitors and residents."
The post also notes that paid parking options are offered by local businesses for overnight or multi-day parking.
