Assistance for Savona flood victims

Clinton water restrictions
As of July 22, the Village of Clinton has moved to Stage 2 watering restrictions. Even-numbered addresses can water on Monday and Thursday, and odd-numbered addresses can water on Tuesday and Friday. There will be no watering allowed on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday, and no watering between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. on any day.
Hand-watering of gardens (with a hose equipped with a nozzle) is permitted, as is the watering of public sports playing fields, parks, schoolyards, community gardens, and Village of Clinton properties.
Resource room
The Resource Room at the WorkBC Employment Services Centre at 308 Railway Avenue in Ashcroft is open to anyone who needs to use a computer, telephone, or fax machine during this challenging time in our area. Staff are also available to help, and to provide information regarding local resources and supports for anyone who needs them.
The centre is open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. For more information call (250) 453-2499.
New firefighting equipment
The Cache Creek Volunteer Fire Department has received a new wildland firefighting skid for the community. The addition to its command truck drastically increases the fire department’s capabilities during grass and wildland fires. CCVFD sends a big thank you to GlobalMedic for their donation of a fantastic piece of equipment.
Ashcroft Fall Fair
The Ashcroft and District Fall Fair is going ahead on Sunday, Sept. 8, and is looking for vendors interested in setting up at this fun, free, family-friendly event.

HUB summer camps
There are still five weeks of summer camps to go at the Ashcroft HUB, with the next one starting on Tuesday, July 30. Each camp runs from Tuesday through Friday for kids aged 7 to 14 years, and the cost is $75 per child for camp.
Next week’s camp is Zoology, followed by Crazy Café, Minecraft Camp, Rainbow Week, and Carnival Camp, which winds up the season starting on Aug. 27. For more information contact the HUB (email office@ashcrofthub.com) or check out the Ashcroft Hub Facebook page.
Libraries are cool
When the weather heats up, the Thompson-Nicola Regional Library reminds residents that its branches are cool. They are all air-conditioned, with free WiFi for those with their own devices, so feel free to head to your nearest branch to beat the heat. Loon Lake pancake breakfast
The popular Loon Lake pancake breakfast is back, with volunteers serving up pancakes (all you can eat!), eggs, sausage, bacon, and ham, as well as coffee, tea, and juice, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 in the Loon Lake Community Hall.
The cost is $15 per person (large) and $10 (small), and all are invited. The event is hosted by, and a fundraiser for, the Loon Lake Community Recreational and Agricultural Society, so come by for a great breakfast and admire the newly-renovated community hall.
Ashcroft community barbecue
The Ashcroft Community Barbecue that was scheduled for July 20 was postponed due to the heat. It will be rescheduled for a later date; watch this space for details.
