Salmon Arm-Shuswap residents begin casting votes in B.C. election

Advanced voting is underway, with B.C. residents visiting visiting local polling stations to determine their riding's next voice in Victoria.  

Six days of voting have been scheduled ahead of Oct. 19, the final voting day of the 43rd provincial general election. Polling stations will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. between Thursday, Oct. 10 and Wednesday, Oct. 16. (See below for further details.)

In the Salmon Arm-Shuswap riding, advanced voting is taking place at the following locations: 

• Armstrong: Armstrong Odd Fellows Hall, Oct. 10-13 and 15-16;

• Celista: North Shuswap Community Hall, Oct. 11-12;

• Enderby: Enderby & District Senior Citizens Society, Oct. 10-13;

• Salmon Arm: 5th Avenue 50Plus Activity Centre, Oct. 10-13 and 15-16;

• Sicamous: Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Hall; Oct. 10-12;

• Sorrento: Sorrento Drop In Society, Oct. 10-13; 

• Vernon: Desert Cove Rec Centre, Oct. 10-12. 

Registered voters will have received from Elections BC a card listing advanced voting locations and their voting location for Oct. 19. 

"Where to Vote cards list the voting places that are usually most-convenient for voters," said Elections BC in a media release. "Voters can, however, vote at any other voting place in the province. Voters are encouraged to bring their Where to Vote card with them when they vote. All voters must prove their identity and residential address by showing acceptable ID or being vouched for."

Registered voters in the Salmon Arm-Shuswap riding have the following candidates to choose from: Sylvia Lindgren, NDP; Greg McCune, Independent; Sherry Roy, Independent; Jed Wiebe, Green; and David Williams, Conservative.
