Ready, Set, Learn
Children aged 3 to 5 years old and their parents/caregivers are invited to free Ready, Set, Learn! sessions at David Stoddart School in Clinton and Desert Sands Community School in Ashcroft. There will be three sessions in Clinton from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on May 30, June 3, and June 13, and two sessions in Ashcroft from 5 to 7:15 p.m. on June 5 and 19.
Participants can attend as many sessions at either school as they like. Each session will feature fun, play-based learning and goodie bags; Clinton sessions will have information tables and snacks available, while the Ashcroft sessions will have door prizes, dinner, and an opportunity to meet the Kindergarten teacher.

Equality Project hours change
As of June 1, The Equality Project clubhouse on Stage Road in Cache Creek will be open three days a week (Monday through Wednesday), and will no longer be open on Thursdays. The dining room will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the Essentials Room will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The office will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Tuesday and Wednesday only).

Ashcroft and area food bank
The Ashcroft and area food bank at 601 Bancroft Street in Ashcroft will be holding family days from noon to 2:30 p.m. on June 4 and June 18, for anyone with children 18 and under. Regular food bank days, to which all are welcome, will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. on June 5 and June 19.

CADOSA meeting
Want to find out more about the Clinton and District Outdoor Sportsman Association? All are welcome at their meetings, which take place on the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. in the basement of the Clinton Legion. The next meeting will be on Wednesday, June 5.
Armchair travel
The Ashcroft HUB is hosting another “armchair travel” event on Thursday, June 6, thanks to sponsorship from New Horizons for Seniors. Participants will be able to get a taste of Germany with a traditional German feast and dessert.

Loon Lake fire hall grand opening
Residents of Loon Lake are invited to the grand opening of the new Loon Lake fire hall on Saturday, June 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (ribbon cutting at noon).
Head over to Loon Lake Fire Hall No. 1 (2501 Loon Lake Road) to meet members of the Loon Lake Volunteer Fire Department and tour the new hall. There will be a community barbecue and refreshments available, and you can learn about recruitment, the Paid-Per-Call Firefighter format, training opportunities, firefighter insurance coverage, community support opportunities, and the TNRD’s FireSmart program.
Casino night
The Ashcroft HUB’s upcoming Casino Night is now open to everyone! The event is taking place on Friday, June 14 from 7 to 10 p.m., and will include casino games, drinks and appetizers, a 50/50 draw, a pay bar, and some great prizes, including a two-night stay at Sundance Guest Ranch, two Kumsheen Rafting tickets, two tickets to the Pipe Mountain Coaster in Revelstoke, and more.

Strawberry tea and bake sale
The Ashcroft/Cache Creek Seniors will be holding a strawberry tea and bake sale on Saturday, June 15 at the seniors’ centre (601 Bancroft Street, Ashcroft). Doors open at 12:30 p.m., and the bake table will be open for business right away; tea is served starting at 1 p.m. There will also be a door prize. The cost is $5 per person, and all are welcome to attend.
Savona Garden Club
The Savona Garden Club is returning, giving area gardeners an opportunity to meet up, learn about plants, visit each other’s gardens, and plan a plant sale. The first meeting will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18 at 6201 Savona Access Road, and all are welcome to attend.
Movable Feast
The St’uxwtèws Movable Feast is taking place at Historic Hat Creek Ranch on Saturday, June 22. The park opens at noon and the free, family-friendly event features a huge line-up of music, including DJ Shub, The Melawmen Collective, Bobby Garcia, and many more.

Grow a pumpkin contest
There is still time to sign up for the Clinton Communities in Bloom’s pumpkin growing contest. Anyone interested in obtaining seeds should contact Susan Swan as soon as possible in order to get growing.
