The Revelry in downtown Kelowna is hosting a prom for senior citizens, complete with limo rides and photos on May 29.
Inspired by the glitz, glam and fun of high school prom season and accompanied by the isolation epidemic among aging Canadians, the Revelry wanted to host a Seniors Prom for high school’s least recent graduates.
The Seniors Prom will include dinner, dancing, live entertainment by Glory Days Duo, photos and a complimentary limousine ride around downtown Kelowna.
“This evening is designed for community seniors to relive one of the most nostalgic moments from their past or perhaps provide a second chance at a memory missed,” said event coordinator Tyler Marr.
Additionally, Revelry will be awarding a special prize for the best prom-posal video submitted by attendees.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at participating senior living facilities and through the Parkinson Senior Centre or by calling 250-868-0208. Any additional senior living facilities wishing to coordinate participation can contact Revelry directly.
People can also learn more about the event and purchase tickets at revelrykelowna.com.
The facility is fully accessible and can accommodate wheelchairs and walkers.
The menu for the evening, included with a ticket, will be:
- Spring greens salad with strawberry champagne vinaigrette
- Broccoli and roasted grape salad
- Mediterranean quinoa and spinach salad
- Roasted garlic and merlot braised beef
- Miso ginger glazed salmon with stone fruit salsa
- Blood orange and champagne-roasted chicken
- Herb and asiago whipped potatoes
