Provincial ministers, managers and advisors tour Boundary Region

Brittny Anderson, Minister of State for Local Governments and Rural Communities of B.C. and others make stops in Greenwood and Grand Forks to discuss ongoing projects.

Work being done in rural communities to improve quality of life was the topic of discussion for a group from the provincial government last week

Brittny Anderson, Minister of State for Local Governments and Rural Communities of B.C., Parliamentary Secretary MLA Steve Morrisette, Executive Advisor Evan Brown, Regional Manager Larry Olson (Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation), and Ministerial Advisor Edena Brown toured the Boundary region, making stops in Greenwood and Grand Forks to tour the cities and talk about ongoing projects.

Anderson and Morissette were in Grand Forks July 7, meeting with Mayor Everett Baker, Councillor Deborah Lafleur, and Councillor Christine Thompson at City Hall to talk about several projects. This included a tour of the downtown dike and the North Ruckle habitat channel.

Later that day in Greenwood, Mayor John Bolt and Council, along with CAO Dean Trumbley and CFO James Sexton, welcomed Anderson,Morrisette, Brown, Olson, and Brown to the city.

The visit included a tour of Greenwood’s historic City Hall, followed by a discussion focused on the City's asset management planning and financial challenges of managing a small city.

A Facebook post on the City of Greenwood’s page stated “These conversations are so important—they give voice to the unique challenges and opportunities that shape communities like ours, and help build relationships that support stronger, more sustainable futures.”
