A large crowd of people came out of their shells for the 3rd Annual White Lake Turtle Festival held on Saturday, April 12.
The event featured all things turtle, combining education and conservation with fun activities.
That included a new to this year scavenger hunt, artisans and vendors, speakers, a turtley interactive quiz, face painting, crafts and games, turtle patrol T-shirts, music, food and a raffle. The event also included special guest Dilly the red-eared slider turtle, who greeted guests from her private pool.
Hosted by the White Lake Residents Association, the festival's goal is to help protect and educate about the painted turtles native to the area, with hatchlings making there way to the lake in mid-April and May.
