Pete Nuij has been hired as the Abbotsford School District's new assistant superintendent.
The district made the announcement on Monday (June 16) and he will work alongside fellow assistant superintendent Bruce Cunnings and superintendent Sean Nosek.
Nuij joins Abbotsford after more than two decades in public education and served as a teacher, school administrator, principal and director of instruction. He was most recently the associate superintendent of education services with the Vancouver School Board.
“Pete’s deep understanding of instructional leadership and assessment will be a tremendous asset to our district,” Nosek stated in a press release. “We are thrilled to welcome him to our team and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our schools, students and community.”
According to the district, Nuij is respected for his strengths in strategic planning, resource management, and building collaborative, student-centered learning environments. They added that his commitment to innovation and instructional excellence aligns closely with the district’s ongoing focus on student success and continuous improvement.
Nuij replaces Jay Pankratz who parted ways with the district in February. Cunnings and Pankratz were both hired to be assistant superintendents in the summer of 2023. Nosek was hired in his role in July 2023.
