There are 209 spots in Surrey that need pavement overlays – roughly 43 lane kilometres' worth – with 125 scheduled to be completed this year.

In April, council awarded Pavex Paving Ltd. a $1,875,280.47 contract ($2,060,000 spending limit) for local road and overlay paving at at the first 58 locations throughout Surrey. Overlay paving involves applying a new layer of asphalt on top of an already paved surface to fix surface damage.

On Monday, council will vote on a similar contract for Pavex – this one for the remaining 67 for 2025, which are all in North Surrey, as well paving work in South Surrey along 194A Street between 24 Avenue and 28 Avenue – in the amount of $2,486,136.45, with the spending limit set at $2,735,000.

"The contract work is expected to start June 2025 and be completed by September 2025," Surrey general manager of engineering Scott Neuman states in a corporate report coming before council.
