With news of an impending Canada Post strike, North Okanagan communities are mailing out their property tax notices earlier than anticipated.

District of Coldstream residents' notices will be mailed out by Friday, May 9, with the due date being Wednesday, July 2.

"In the event of a Canada Post strike, the due date for property taxes does not change," said the district. "As such, the district encourages residents to avoid mailing payments."

To avoid penalties, Coldstream is encouraging residents to pay through their financial institution in person, or in person at the municipal office, or on the district's website.

City of Armstrong residents' notices will be mailed out by early next week, and the city is encouraging residents not to mail in their payments.

"The property tax due date remains firm on July 2, 2025, and penalties will apply to any payments not received by this date," said the city. "Regardless of postmark or mailing delays."

Armstrong residents are also encouraged to pay in person at city hall, through one's bank, or through the secure drop box outside city hall.

Finally, as planning begins for the 2026 budget in Vernon, residents have the opportunity to share feedback through a public survey.

"Residents will have the opportunity to help shape how the city allocates funding for key services such as parks, roads, public safety, recreation and more," said the City of Vernon. "Feedback from the community is a key part of the budget planning process, helping to ensure investments align with what matters most to Vernon residents."

The survey is available from May 6-26, and participants will be entered to win a $150 gift card to a local business of their choosing.

"This survey marks the first phase of public engagement and will help identify local priorities before city council begins its formal review of the 2026 budget later this year."

The survey can be found at engagevernon.ca/budget.
