Two vehicles were destroyed in a late-night fire on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 on MacSwan Drive in Chilliwack.

Explosions could be heard and flames were shooting into the air when two vehicles caught fire during the late hours of Tuesday in Chilliwack.

Crews with the Chilliwack Fire Department were called out to the fire in the 47000 block of MacSwan Drive in Promontory Heights just after 11:45 p.m. on May 13.

"Bystanders reported multiple explosions. The fire damaged a second vehicle and caused exposure damage that required BC Hydro and Telus to attend," assistant fire chief Krista Minar stated in a press release on May 14.

"Firefighters acted quickly to extinguish the fire, preventing further damage."

There were no reported injuries.

Due to the extend of damage to the first vehicle that caught fire, the cause of the blaze was undetermined despite an investigation by firefighters.

The incident remains under investigation by the RCMP, and anyone with information or video footage is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
