Coffee’s On
Coffee’s On sessions take place at the 70 Mile Community Hall every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the next one will be on March 25. The event features coffee, a by-donation lunch, and a chance to get together with others for conversation and camaraderie. Anyone interested in “stepping things up” a bit with crafts, art, card games, and more is encouraged to bring their ideas (and themselves!) to the sessions.

Armchair travel
Experience a taste of Greece at the Ashcroft HUB’s next Armchair Travel event, taking place on Thursday, March 27 starting at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, and attendees will be treated to a fabulous dinner of Greek food. Board game afternoon
The Ashcroft Literacy Program and the Village of Cache Creek are hosting another board game event at the Cache Creek Community Hall (basement meeting room) on Friday, March 28 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. This fun, free family event will feature games, snacks, refreshments, and door prizes, and all are welcome (children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult).
Clinton Citizen of the Year
The Spirit of Clinton is seeking nominations for the 2024 Clinton Citizen of the Year. Do you know someone who goes above and beyond for the community? Someone who embodies the Spirit of Clinton through their Dedication, kindness, and service? Recognize them by nominating them as the village’s Citizen of the Year for 2024. Repair café
Volunteers from the 100 Mile Repair Café are coming to the 70 Mile Community Hall (2545 N. Bonaparte Road) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 29. The aim of the Repair Café is to reduce the waste that gets sent to landfill or incineration, and to change society’s “throw away” mind-set.
You can bring broken household items such as small kitchen appliances, small electronics (no cellphones or laptops), and small power tools and get them repaired (if possible) for free; you can also get advice or seek inspiration. She shoots, she scores!
Merritt Minor Hockey is holding a free “Female Try It!” hockey clinic, which is open to all girls under the age of 17 who have never registered for hockey but are interested in trying it out. There will be an equipment try-on session on Monday, March 31 from 6 to 7 p.m., and on-ice sessions on April 1 and 2 from 6 to 7 p.m. All sessions take place at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena in Merritt.

Fiddler on the Roof
Twisted Desert Music is presenting a live theatre production of the classic musical Fiddler on the Roof at the Ashcroft HUB from April 8–12, with performances at 7 p.m. (April 8–11) and at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 (doors open 30 minutes before curtain time for each performance).
Come and experience the magic of live theatre and enjoy this timeless show about tradition, which features unforgettable songs, compelling storytelling, and the central figure of Tevye the milkman, who clings to the old ways as the world changes around him. Spring fling
The Equality Project in Cache Creek is holding a Spring Fling from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, and all are invited. Festivities will be held at the clubhouse (1260 Stage Road), and will include a light lunch, silent auction, door prizes, and a bake sale, as well as good company. Admission is $2 per person, and members and non-members are invited to come down and welcome in the spring season.
Spring Into Art
The Thompson Nicola Shuswap chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists is presenting its 21st annual juried regional art show, “Spring Into Art,” taking place at the Old Courthouse Gallery at 7 Seymour Street W. in Kamloops from April 8–19 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday).
The event showcases the finest artists from Kamloops, the Shuswap, and the Okanagan, working in a variety of genres and media. Attendees can vote for three “People’s Choice” awards, and there will be live demonstrations where you can witness artists in action and ask questions. Emergency first aid course
The Ashcroft HUB is planning to hold an Emergency First Aid with CPR-C course on Friday, May 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $150 per person, and a minimum of 10 people are needed in order for the course to run; participants must be 16 or older. Friends of Hospice membership
The Ashcroft and District Hospice Society is looking for area residents who have an interest in assisting the society with fundraising, awareness campaigns, special project support, board membership, and more, which will help them support hospice in Ashcroft, Cache Creek, Clinton, Spences Bridge, Walhachin, and the surrounding area.
You can become a Friends of Hospice member for just $5 per year (applicants also need to complete a free criminal record check form). You will not be supporting clients in a hospice role, but will be able to help the society with its campaigns and special events, such as the annual plant swap and sale, which is coming up in May. Grief support library
Did you know that the Ashcroft and District Hospice Society has a free library of grief support resources for people of all ages? In addition to pamphlets and books, the society also has contact information for organizations that can provide even more resources and support.

Clinton walking sessions
Anyone who wants to do some walking but would like to stay warm and dry can walk indoors at the Clinton Memorial Hall every Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. All adults of any ability are welcome; just make sure to bring a pair of clean, dry shoes in which to walk. If you have a walking stick, cane, wheelchair, or walker, someone will clean it off for you. Drop in for as little or long as you like and enjoy some exercise, or just visit for a spell.
