January: When the Christmas cookies finally disappear . . . and so do my New Year's resolutions.
Author unknown
January is the perfect time to reflect on the past, appreciate the present, and look forward to the future. It is an opportunity to embrace a fresh perspective. January comes so quickly after the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, and continues the chilly days of winter. It's the ideal time to recharge, and renew your focus on what truly matters.
The New Year has traditionally been a time for reflection; not always on the year that has just slipped by, but on the new tomorrows that await. The new year, over many hundreds of years, has been a time of rejoicing and planning for the future.
Whether you are actually making New Year's resolutions or just going forward to a new year, remember to be a little kinder to yourself.
I hope you all had a happy Christmas with family and friends. Best wishes for a healthy and wonderful 2025.

Some smiles to start the new year:
One evening, a little boy and his family were having dinner at his grandmother's house. Everyone was seated around the table as the food was being served. When he received his plate, the little boy began eating right away. "Wait until we say a prayer," his mother admonished. "I don't have to," the boy replied. "Of course you do," his mother insisted. "We always say a prayer before eating at our house." "That's at our house," he explained. "This is Grandma's house, and she knows how to cook!"
Finding her canary at the bottom of the cage, a woman took it to her veterinarian, who said, "Sorry, your bird is no more." "No!" she cried. "I want proof." So the vet opened the door and in came a tabby cat and a Labrador retriever. They each sniffed the bird, then shook their heads sadly. "Okay," said the bereft lady, quite resigned. "How much do I owe you?" “That will be $300," said the vet. "Originally, it would have been $25," he added, seeing her surprised face, "but that was before the cat scan and the lab report."
