Hundreds of students from Nanaimo's high schools joined with their friends and families to make for a busy day in downtown Nanaimo yesterday for graduation ceremonies in the Port Theatre and Vancouver Island Conference Centre.
The two sites hosted graduation ceremonies Wednesday, June 25, for Nanaimo District and John Barsby secondary schools Wednesday morning, immediately followed by ceremonies for Wellington and Dover secondary schools in the afternoon.
Hosting graduation ceremonies for four Nanaimo high schools in the two facilities meant parking spaces were at a premium to accommodate the students and attending families and caused traffic backups as attendees tried to make their way to ceremonies on time in the afternoon.
