Sicamous is getting lit for the holidays with the annual Christmas Light Up Parade.
The parade will be part of a full afternoon and evening of community events on Saturday, Dec. 7 for families, friends and neighbours to come together and celebrate the Christmas season.
The fun kicks off with Santa's Workshop and Spaghetti Dinner from 3 to 5 p.m. upstairs at the legion where there will be themed crafts available. From there, people are invited to head down to the Main Street Landing where there will be hot chocolate, coffee and cookies to enjoy by the fire as they wait for the parade to begin at 5:30.
Everyone is then encouraged to stick around afterwards for the community Christmas carol singalong at 6:15. Following that, Mayor Colleen Anderson will lead the countdown and light up the Main Street Christmas tree.
There is still time to register to join the parade for any businesses or organizations interested in participating. The registration form can be found online on the district website at sicamous.ca, with Friday, Nov. 29 the deadline for submissions.
The parade will start at Eagle River Secondary, then head down Main Street and on to Riverside before turning up Temple Street, and ending at the corner of Shuswap Avenue and Main where the road will be closed with an area set aside for float parking.
In a media release, the district encouraged participation by saying it celebrates community spirit, creates lasting memories, showcases creativity and spreads joy and cheer.
