If you missed Seedy Saturday in Cache Creek on Feb. 1, and can’t wait for Clinton’s Seedy Sunday in April, you can get your gardening fix at several upcoming events in the region that will help you prepare for spring.
The Kamloops Farmers’ Market is holding a Seedy Saturday event on Saturday, March 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 140 Laburnum Street, Kamloops. The event is all about local food, seeds, and food security and sovereignty, and will feature community groups with information on food access, food production, and gardening, as well as several KFM vendors, some of whom will be there with ready-to-eat foods.
Lillooet Food Matters is holding its 15th annual Seedy Sunday event on Sunday, March 9 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lillooet Rec Centre. Admission is $2 per person (or by donation), and the event will feature a seed sale and swap, the Lillooet seed library, local market vendors and display tables, a raffle, the Rainshadow Café, and more.
Lillooet’s Seedy Sunday is an invasives-free event. Invasive plants can be incredibly destructive, yet many retail outlets still sell them for ornamental use, so be sure to know before you buy to ensure that you are not unwittingly purchasing an invasive plant for your garden.
