Chawathil First Nation's election is taking place on July 9.

Four candidates are running for chief of Chawathil First Nation.

A new Chawathil government is expected to be named on July 9 and, this year, band members will be able to vote from a list of four chief candidates and 14 councillor candidates. 

For chief, the candidates are incumbent Norm Florence, Kelsey John, Shane August John, and Aaron Pete. 

For council, the incumbents are Monica Florence, Audrey George, Kelsey John, Pete, and Timothy Peters. Also running is Sarah Ewen, Norm Florence, Crystal John, Donovan John, Elijah John, Landon John, Shane August John, Georgina Kay, and Jessica Pablo.

Voting will take place at the Chawathil Te Lalemtst Community Hall from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. It is open to all Chawathil band members who live both on, and off, reserve.
