Drivers hoping to use Flood Hope Road are going to need to take a detour this Monday morning (April 14) thanks to construction resuming for the Richmond Hill Multi-Use Pathway.
The entrance to Flood Hope Road, near exit 170, is closed as crews work to "to include a 3.6-metres wide separated path for pedestrians and cyclists" as well as improve on road safety in the area.
"Please use caution in the area and watch for crews and equipment as construction continues," said the District of Hope via Facebook. "Thank you for your patience as we build a safer, more connected Hope!"
Drivers needing to access Flood Hope Road can use exit 168. The $2.9 million project began last winter and "consists of approximately two-kilometres of separated pathway along Flood Hope Road between exit 170 and Silverview Road." The contractors, Timbro Contracting Ltd., will also be repaving part of the road, improving lighting in the area, and adding a "signalized at-grade pedestrian crossing to replace the damaged overpass."
The project was made possible thanks to a $500,000 grant from the BC Active Transportation Infrastructure Program, and a financial contribution from Trans Mountain.
Update to follow.
