Firefighters battle blaze at Cloverdale home: three injured

Fire at a home in the 17900 block of 56A Ave

A fire tore through a single-story home in Cloverdale Wednesday evening.

Surrey Police said Surrey Fire responded to the call of a house fire in the 17900 block of 56A Ave just after 7 p.m.

Three people from the scene were transported to the hospital in stable condition, according to Brian Twaites, BC EHS paramedic public information officer. Paramedics also treated two people at the scene who did not need hospital transport, Twaites said.

"Crews arrived to find heavy fire coming from a carport attached to a single story home," noted a Black Press freelancer at the scene. "The home appears to have suffered significant damage."
