Financial assistance available for HUB summer kids' camps

Eight weeks of kids' summer camps at the HUB kick off on July 9, with a huge range of activities for all interests

Stuff a Stocking

Integris Credit Union in Clinton is wishing everyone a Merry Half-mas and inviting residents to a barbecue from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 28 at 1507 Highway 97N to kick off this year's “Stuff a Stocking” campaign. Bring an item to donate and be entered to win a prize; items are needed for men, women, kids (0 to 11 years), and youth aged 12 to 18.

Lytton market

The Two Rivers Farmers’ Market in Lytton runs every Friday through the summer, and starts up for the season this Friday, June 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at G’wsep Gas on Highway 12. Come by and check out the amazing local vendors offering a wide variety of products.

Pool party

Ashcroft Early Years Provider is holding a pool party for children aged 0 to 5 years and their parents/caregivers at the Ashcroft pool from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 30. Spaces are limited, and registration is required by Friday, June 28. There is no charge for the event.

Swimming will be from noon to 1 p.m., and will be followed by healthy snacks and play in the park from 1 to 2 p.m. To register, visit the Ashcroft Early Years Provider Facebook page or email info@yellowheadcs.ca.

Lytton community gathering

All are welcome at a community gathering and barbecue in Lytton at the Parish Hall grounds from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 30. The Village of Lytton will be recognizing the fire departments, organizations, and  individuals who supported the community during and after the June 2021 fire.

70 Mile fire department

The 70 Mile Volunteer Fire Department is holding an emergency meeting on Monday, July 8 starting at 7 p.m. at the community hall. The purpose of the meeting is to make changes to complete the application for charitable status, and all members of the organization are encouraged to attend.

Summer camps

Kids aged 7 to 13 can enjoy eight weeks of summer camp at the Ashcroft HUB, with each week bringing a new set of fun, themed activities, from Minecraft and carnival camps to music, zoology, and the always popular Crazy Café.

All camps run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and they kick off on Tuesday, July 9 with Summer Camp, where participants can play games, do crafts, enjoy a new challenge each day, and have a great time while getting to know their fellow campers.

Lillooet free market

Everyone is welcome at the Lillooet free market, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 13 at the Miyazaki House. There will be clothes, shoes, toys, plants, household items, and more: take what you want, and leave what you don’t need.

The event will also feature music, dancing, an open mic, and a potluck meal (green event, so bring your own plates and cutlery). For more information, call (604) 396-9893.

Walhachin Museum

The Walhachin Museum – located in the historic Soldiers Memorial Hall – is open Thursday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The museum features fascinating displays about the community’s history and the surrounding area (including the McAbee Fossil Beds), and is well worth a visit. Admission is by donation, with funds going to assist with the ongoing maintenance and operations of the hall.
