On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society donated $800,000 to the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation in support of priority equipment needs at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care.

Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society has donated $800,000 to support priority equipment needs at the Delta Hospital Campus of Care.

The auxiliary's donation on Tuesday, May 13, will help Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation fund critical equipment to enhance patient care in the hospital's surgical services, emergency departments and medical floor, as well as nearby Mountain View Manor long-term care centre.

“We are honoured to work with the Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society to help provide the best health care possible at the Delta Hospital Campus. We are incredibly grateful for this remarkable gift that will purchase critical equipment needs for multiple departments throughout the hospital,” Jodi Stokes, leadership and legacy manager with the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation, said in a press release.

“We look forward to continuing our important partnership with the auxiliary as we collectively support the Delta Hospital Campus of Care to strengthen healthcare in our community.”

Notably, the auxiliary's gift will fund a new Ophthalmic Surgical Microscope System for Delta Hospital’s surgical department, which performs more than 1,000 cataract surgeries each year.

By obtaining a new ophthalmic microscope, surgeons will have enhanced visualization of each structure in the eye, allowing them to distinguish between different tissue layers and maintain sufficient depth perception, according to a press release.

As a result, access to this microscope will increase both the precision and efficiency of procedures, ensuring that patients receive quick and highly-effective care.

Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society has been a tremendous supporter of Delta Hospital since 1969, providing volunteer services, patient care and comfort, and funding through entrepreneurial efforts.

As one of B.C.’s most successful hospital auxiliaries, the society has over 300 volunteers who donate nearly 60,000 hours of their time each year, working at the auxiliary’s businesses — Dogwood Gift Shop and Courtyard Café, both located in the lobby of Delta Hospital — and the Thrift Shop in Ladner Village.

“The auxiliary is thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with the foundation,” Delta Hospital Auxiliary Society president Maureen Mooney said in a press release.

“Through our collaboration, great things can be accomplished: patients experience top-of-the-line care and Delta’s incredible hospital staff have access to updated equipment. We are thankful for the hard work of our volunteers that made this gift possible and continue to uphold our commitment to the community every day.”
