Work on the future site of the Greater Vernon Cultural Centre is set to begin next week.
The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) will be doing drilling work on the site located at the 31st Avenue downtown parking lot Monday, Oct. 7 to Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Residents and visitors are advised that about 12 parking stalls will be unavailable during this time. Barricades will be set up to identify the closure area.
"The city of Vernon and RDNO apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," the city said in a press release.
The Cultural Centre project has been beset by challenges, but is moving forward. A total of $41 million is being borrowed for the project, with the RDNO board approving the borrowing of an additional $13 million in September to close the funding gap for the project. The $13 million is on top the $28 million in long-term borrowing that was previously approved by voters.
