Crews attend car fire in Vernon

Firefighters in Vernon responded to a vehicle fire around in Vernon's East Hill area Friday, Sept. 20.

Vernon Fire Rescue Services responded to the call at approximately 11:45 p.m.

A photo sent to The Morning Star showed a vehicle fully engulfed in flames with firefighters on scene.

"Crews used a bumper line to extinguish the flames, and the fire was contained to the vehicle," said the City of Vernon in a release issued Monday, Sept. 23. "At this time, no further information is available."

The RCMP also attended.

"The owner of the vehicle was present and based on the information provided to police, the fire is believed to have started as a result of negligence," said Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer Const. Chris Terleski.

 No injuries were reported.
