Summertime, and the livin' is easy at Loon Lake.

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining. the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing and the lawn mower is broken.
James Dent

For many, come July, summer is officially here. Youngsters are out of school for July and August. Routines change. For some, July means a vacation away to an exotic destination or a return to a favourite place, while others look forward to staying home and plan a more relaxed, quieter way of life. They find a shady spot and curl up with a good book or a crossword puzzle. Whatever your choice, stay as well and safe as possible.

Stores and markets have an abundance of fresh, local fruits and vegetables, or you can have the added pleasure of growing your own produce. You should see the wonderful variety of things growing in the Clinton Creek Estates planting boxes!

Be mindful of common summer hazards like insect bites, too much sun, swimming beyond your depth, hiking in unfamiliar environments, etc. Be prepared! Whatever you plan for your leisure time, make safety the primary objective. Enjoy July!

The Clinton Seniors’ Association Yard Sale was on July 1 at the Seniors’ Centre. Thank you to everyone who helped put it together and to everyone who came out to support this fundraising endeavour; much appreciated.

A numbers game: Think of a number between one and 10. Then multiply that number by two, add 10, and divide the result by two. Finally, subtract the number thought of. The result will be five. It works every time.

Clinton Seniors’ Association meetings have adjourned for the summer months. The next regular  meeting will be on Sept. 18 following lunch at the centre at 217 Smith Avenue. Come and join us! Seniors are:
