Nicomen controlled burn
BC Wildfire Service crews will be working to burn approximately 10 to 20 piles along the Nicomen FSR from now through the end of November. This pile burning project is taking place in an effort to clean up the excess fuels (e.g., dead wood or brush) made from chainsaw training and community protection in the area. It will also help clean up the right of way along the FSR where an excess of debris and fuel has built up from a wildfire during the 2021 season.
Smoke from piles may be visible to residents of Nicomen Indian Band and surrounding communities. Pile burning will only proceed if conditions are favourable. BC Wildfire Service personnel will carefully prepare, control, and monitor these piles at all times.
