Update (3:50 p.m.)
The fire that sparked in Kelowna was fully extinguished on Saturday (June 28) but caused "extensive damage" to Casorso Road home, according to Kelowna Fire Department assistant fire chief Jason Bedell.
Crews found smoke and flames coming from the attic of the structure at around 2:40 p.m.
Bedell said he believes there were about five residents inside the house when the fire sparked. There were no injuries, he added.
"Emergency support services are going to be dealing with 11 people from his house at this time, but no injuries to residents or firefighters," Bedell said.
An investigation into what caused the blaze is underway, he added.
"It doesn't appear the flame got completely into the attic space at this point," Bedell said. "The back of the building is currently impacted as well."
A total of 23 firefighters responded to the incident. RCMP officers and FortisBC crews were also on scene.
Casorso Road is still blocked off Lanfranco Road, as of 3:50 p.m.
