An unfortunate discovery was made at Vernon's refurbished Lakeview Park Tuesday morning.
Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to a sudden death at the 18th Street park around 8:45 a.m., where a witness said a body was found in the porta potty.
Visiting from out of town, the woman and her family, including two young children, went to visit the park, hopeful the new pool would be open.
Not only were they disappointed to find the pool was still closed, but they watched a body being loaded into a vehicle.
"It's great to be back home," joked the former resident, dismayed at what has become of her hometown.
Police determined no criminality is suspected in the death and the BC Coroners Service is also conducting an independent and concurrent fact-finding investigation to determine how, where, when and by what means they came to their unexpected death.
