Boaters on Osoyoos Lake are reminded to watch for swimmers this weekend as an annual fundraising event hits the water.

The Across the Lake Swim returns on Sunday, July 6, starting at 8 a.m.

Participants will swim — either 1.5, three, or five kilometres — in a triangle route from Legion Beach around buoys and back to the starting point.

Swimmers are anticipated to be out of the water at 10:30 a.m., boaters are reminded.

Funds from the event go toward water safety programs for kids.

More than $166,000 has been raised since the event's inception, sending around 20,000 elementary school students to free swim lessons.
