The Swedish band BF/C is returning to Hope on July 11.
Concerts in the Park is back this Friday (July 4) and the season is kicking off with the Afro soul and funk band Serengeti. Every Friday, from July to the end of August, summer concerts will be running in Memorial Park. From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. locals will get the chance to hear from one of the nine musical talents scheduled to play in the park during the next two months.
The first week opens with Serengeti and the second week will feature the return of BF/C, an Indie Pop band based out of Sweden. Made up of duo Barish and Joel Igor Hammad Magnusson or “Californiaman”, their songs are a mixture of indie and electro groove. The musicians, who played last summer in Hope, were previously described by the Hope & District Arts council as a Noir cross between Grace Jones and Pink Floyd.
Though the men are from Europe, they first met in San Francisco in 2015 and released their first album BF/C in 2016. This was followed by three more albums, Den goda människan i Sezuan in 2017, BF/C The Unexpected Consequences of Feathers in 2019, and Valet in 2021.
In addition to BF/C, the following bands/musicians will also be playing in the upcoming weeks:
• Lana Raven and the Hope Mountain Band; Benjamin Neufeld; Naomi Barrettara; Damon Campbell on July 18
• Big Little Lions on July 25
• The Definitive on Aug. 1
• The Big Shiny Band on Aug. 8
• Beverley Elliot and Linda Kidder with Andreas Schuld on Aug. 15
• Empanadas Ilegales on Aug. 22
• Antonio Larosa on Aug. 29
