Residents in the Southern Interior will have increased transit service in some areas this summer.
BC Transit announced upcoming seasonal and permanent service changes which will come into effect on June 29. Together with the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, it wants to ensure that customers are aware of the new times and routes.
As part of BC Transit's summer schedule, Route 5 Main trip times will be adjusted to reflect seasonal travel patterns, while Route 10 Naramata will add a weekday trip departing from Cherry Lane at 9:30 a.m. Route 16 Lake to Lake will introduce additional evening trips.
Permanent adjustments to some routes are also being made to improve rider experience.
Route 2 Westside/Penticton Ave. buses will now travel downtown via White Ave. and Ellis St., and Route 40 Osoyoos/Penticton will have a new bus stop added on Oliver on Fairview Road.
Route 50 Princeton/Penticton will have an on-request service available in Keremeos to serve the Recreation Centre Similkameen. Requests can be made by calling 1-844-442-2212 and pressing three for Princeton.
