The Abbotsford Police Department released numbers from what they called a busy weekend, with teams responding to 355 files from Friday (June 13) at 5 p.m. to Monday (June 16) at 6 a.m.

The biggest incident was a serious collision involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Gladwin Road and Chilcotin Drive on Sunday (June 15) evening. That crash sent both drivers to the hospital and the motorcycle driver suffered life-threatening injuries.

Later that evening officers were dispatched to three separate weapons-related incidents involving imitation firearms being pointed at individuals. Two suspects were arrested in connection with two of the incidents, while the third remains under active investigation.

Sunday also saw officers respond to a robbery at a local gas station where a suspect reportedly brandished a knife.

Other call types over the weekend included:

  • nine domestic disputes
  • six assaults
  • seven missing person reports
  • four break and enters

Traffic enforcement saw 10 impaired drivers removed from the road and 44 violation tickets issued. By the end of the weekend, two individuals were held in custody, pending court appearances or transfer to Surrey Pretrial by the Sheriff’s Service.
