Car enthusiasts of all ages will want to make a pit stop at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre on Sunday, July 27.
The 2025 AbbyPD Car Meet takes over the Gladwin Road entrance parking lot from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with all sorts of activities planned.
The event is a fundraiser for the AbbyPD Youth Leadership Program and will showcase a wide range of vehicles, from classic cars to modern muscle, all in support of the Abbotsford Police Foundation's commitment to funding APD community programming and initiatives.
In addition to the cars, attendees can sample barbecue hosted by APD team members, pizza by Ranallo's Pizza, live entertainment and prizes for various categories, including the kid's choice award.
Admission to the event is free and those hoping to register car can do so by paying a $20 registration fee before July 20 at 4 p.m.
The goal for the event is to raise $35,000 in support of youth initiatives within Abbotsford. All of the proceeds from this event will go directly to funding AbbyPD community programming.
It was also recently announced that the Abbotsford Canucks truck and the "fan-boni" will also be on display for the car meet.
According to the APF's website, the AbbyPD Youth Leadership Program offers high school students the opportunity to cultivate personal and team leadership skills through experiences in policing, public safety, and community service. Over the course of eight days and seven nights, participants engage in activities to help unlock their full potential.
Under the guidance of seasoned local police officers, students experience interactive presentations, realistic policing simulations, and lessons in social responsibility and life skills. The hands-on environment challenges them mentally and physically and also encourages teamwork and personal growth.
Open to students in Grades 10 through 12 from both public and private schools in the Abbotsford area, the program covers critical topics such as the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, police procedures, emergency response, forensics, self-defence and more.
