The detachment's Sgt. Brian Lamb provided the Free Press with an update on some of the files of note to help keep the community informed.

From Creston to Kamloops, ending in 100 Mile

After responding to an unrelated call, RCMP arrested a man for possession of stolen property and an outstanding warrant, thanks to astute RCMP members.

On Dec 21, the RCMP had been attending an unrelated call on the 7000 block of Highway 24 - where they say they saw a red Dodge Ram pickup on the property. RCMP determined the vehicle was stolen from Kamloops. RCMP said they located a man at the scene and arrested him for possession of stolen property, breach of an undertaking, as well as an outstanding warrant from Creston. RCMP said after searching the vehicle, it yielded a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, as well as drug trafficking materials. RCMP are continuing their investigation.

Collision turns into arrests for no insurance, plus a warrant from Clinton

On Dec. 17, RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Canim-Hendrix Lake Rd. After attending, they spoke to one of the parties involved in the crash. The RCMP say there were no injuries and believe the collision occurred when one vehicle tried to pass another, with the lead vehicle making a sudden left turn. The RCMP determined one of the vehicles did not have valid insurance - and also found one of the passengers had an arrest warrant from Clinton for a driving offence. RCMP subsequently arrested the person and released them. In addition, the driver was issued violation tickets for no insurance, failure to display an L sign, and driving contrary to restrictions of their license.

Williams Lake man arrested as well

On Dec. 18, RCMP responded to a reported intoxicated person walking on Birch Avenue in 100 Mile House. RCMP located the male suspect and found he was wanted on a warrant related to weapons offences in Williams Lake. The man was arrested and held for court.

Break, enter at Mahood Lake

On Dec. 17, RCMP attended two residential properties on the 4000 block of Mahood Lake Road after reported break and enters. A cabled gate was reportedly damaged to gain entry to the properties and two residences were entered, damaging doors and windows. Nothing was known to have been taken at the time of the report, and the incidents are believed to have occurred sometime after late November.

Stolen trailer located

A trailer reported stolen on Dec. 18 from a property on the 5000 block of Horse Lake Road was located abandoned on Dec. 20. RCMP said the 2006 cargo mate enclosed trailer was reportedly in the Paterson Road area near Deka Lake for at least two days prior to being found.

Clothing, electronics taken from vehicle

Items believed to have been taken overnight from two vehicles on the 200 block of Fourth Street on Dec. 20 included clothing and electronics.

Truck taken, then found

RCMP received a report on Dec. 20 of the theft of a white 2004 Ford F250 from a residence on Shaw Drive. Police then later located this vehicle in a parking lot on the 500 block of Cedar Avenue.

BC Highway Patrol nets results

An inquiry by a BC Highway Patrol on Dec. 21 into a vehicle driving on Canim Hendrix Lake Road found the vehicle had not had valid insurance since 2022. The vehicle and driver were subsequently stopped and the driver reportedly had no drivers license either. Patrol members then found the male was prohibited from driving. He was given a court appearance and the vehicle was impounded.

Impaired driver issued temporary prohibition

Responding to a complaint, RCMP stopped a vehicle on North Birch Avenue on Dec. 21. Upon speaking with the driver, RCMP believed him to be showing signs of alcohol consumption and noted liquor containers in the vehicle cup holder. A breath test conducted with a roadside device resulted in a fail. RCMP issued an immediate roadside prohibition from driving for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Another truck taken, then found

RCMP responded to a report of the theft of a red 2004 Ford F350 on Dec. 22 from Jens Road. The vehicle was then found abandoned the same day at 11 p.m. near the Exeter Station Road landfill. A tidy tank which had been in the back of the truck was missing, however.

Penticton stolen vehicle located in 100 Mile

On Dec. 22, RCMP observed a grey 2004 Ford F350 in a parking lot in the 500 block of Cedar Avenue. RCMP were able to determine the vehicle had been reported stolen from Penticton. They then seized the vehicle.

Tools, ATV taken from shed

Mail theft

Some Canada Post customers who had been waiting for the post-strike return of mail may have to wait even longer for some items. On Dec. 23, RCMP received a reported theft of a mailbox on Highway 97 at Maze Lake Road. A Canada Post mailbox had been removed from the concrete pad. It is not known when the theft took place or what mail may have gone missing in the incident.
