1 taken to hospital following Kelowna house fire

A fire on Cactus Road in Rutland was sparked in the late afternoon on Sunday, June 15.

One person was taken to hospital following a house fire on Jasmine Road in Rutland, just before 4 p.m., June 15. 

According to Assistant Fire Chief Shawn Wudrich, the blaze was knocked down with an initial exterior attack by the first arriving engine, preventing further extension and damage to the residence.

Two residents were at home at the time of the fire, and one was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

The Cause and origin of the fire is unknown at this time, said Wudrich.


A house fire in Rutland has been doused by Kelowna fire crews.

The blaze was on Cactus Road, and was sparked in the late afternoon on Sunday, June 15.

Four fire trucks and police were on scene.
