Comedians Syd Bosel and Ray Morrison join forces for a special show celebrating Morrison's 70th birthday, June 13 at Peninsula Productions Studio Theatre.

According to comedians Ray Morrison and Syd Bosel, the cake is optional – but laughs are guaranteed – when the pair join forces Friday, June 13 for a special bash to celebrate Morrison's 70th birthday.

The evening of comedy, which they are calling That (Almost) 70's Show, will be presented in 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. performances at Peninsula Productions' Studio Theatre in Centennial Park (14600 North Bluff Rd.).

Stand-up performer, writer, and actor Morrison, affectionately known as the “Elder Statesman” of Vancouver comedy, and his longtime friend, top-flight touring comedian Bosel, have, by their own reckoning, been "cracking each other up for over 40 years."

Launching their careers at the same time, the pair have been selling out large venues together ever since, but both have gathered momentum, particularly over the last few years.

Morrison, who made his debut as a headliner at Yuk Yuk's Vancouver in 2023, has been featured at venues all over the Lower Mainland, from last year's Inaugural South Rock Comedy Festival to Just For Laughs Vancouver, the Vancouver Fringe Festival, and CBC's Laugh Out Loud.

His stock in trade, as he describes it, is being the "Grandpa who reminds you, with every warm hug and quick-witted joke, that laughter really is the best medicine."

A regular on CBC Radio’s The Debaters, Bosel made history in 2024 as the first woman to win BC’s 'Yuk Off', graced the cover of The Georgia Straight in February and will be featured at the 2025 Winnipeg Comedy Festival.
