Ron James is no stranger to Surrey, where the comedian will perform Tuesday, June 3, on a five-date spring tour of B.C.
Surrey Arts Centre's Main Stage is a venue for his "Not Nearly Done Yet!" show, presented by Shantero Productions.
Born and raised in Nova Scotia, and now a newly minted senior citizen, James has spent more than 25 years "barrelling down endless strips of asphalt from coast to coast," a web bio boasts.
James wrote about his life and comedy adventures in a 2022 book called All Over the Map, subtitled "Rambles and Ruminations from the Canadian Road." On television, his one-hour comedy specials on CBC have been a New Year's Eve tradition for fans.
Prior to his success as a comedian, James spent 10 years with Second City, eventually appearing in feature films, sitcoms and national commercials, earning a Genie Award nomination (Best Supporting Actor) for work in the 1988 film Something About Love.
His X account bio describes James as "a comedian doing my best to make sense of the chaos in the daily march through life's bright fury."
He toured Ontario in May and now heads to B.C. for shows in Sidney, Surrey, Mission, Abbotsford and Kamloops.
Tickets for James' Surrey date are sold for $78.75, all in, on tickets.surrey.ca, or call 604-501-5566.
Shantero Productions also presented The Stampeders at Surrey Arts Centre on May 9, and will bring Lunch at Allen's, a band featuring Canadian music legends Murray McLauchlan, Cindy Church, Marc Jordan and Ian Thomas, to the venue on June 13.
