March lineup at Osborne Bay Pub brings classic rock, jazz and swing

From high-energy tribute acts to laid-back jazz and Celtic-folk favourites

Osborne Bay Pub continues to be Crofton’s go-to spot for top-tier live entertainment, and March is no exception. With a mix of tribute acts, jazz, swing and Celtic-folk, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Let Osborne Bay Pub brush your rock and roll hair on March 8 at 8 p.m. when Augie Dawg’s Let the Good Times Roll brings the sounds of The Cars to life in a high-energy tribute show. With a setlist packed with the band’s greatest hits, plus a few surprise covers, this is a show that will have you dancing and singing along all night. Their recent shows have sold out, so get your tickets.

Looking for a laid-back Sunday afternoon? Hans Verhoeven & Friends take the stage on March 9 at 2 p.m. for an eclectic jazz performance. A standout drummer in B.C.’s jazz scene, Verhoeven leads his trio of top musicians through a mix of jazz, funk and ballads. Tickets are $20 at the door for this show hosted by the Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society. 

Hang on to your love and your tickets and experience the smooth and sultry sounds of A Tribute to Sade, featuring Skyla J on Saturday, March 15 at 8 p.m. With her rich, emotive voice and a career spanning jazz, soul and R&B, Skyla J brings Sade’s timeless music to life in a performance that promises to captivate both heart and your soul. March 22 at 7 p.m., Slim Sandy & The Atomic Cocktails bring the vintage swing. Led by Slim Sandy on guitar and harmonica with Willa Mae on vocals, Big Daddy Bo on bass, and Bryn Bad on trumpet, this group takes audiences back to the golden age of swing, playing tunes from the 1930s and ’40s. With performances at festivals across Vancouver Island and beyond, this is a night of retro rhythms you won’t want to miss. Tickets are on Eventbrite.

The weekend wraps up with the big band sounds of Dockside Drive on March 23 at 2 p.m. This eight-piece powerhouse brings the swing of the ’40s, ’50s, and ’60s roaring back to life. This is a can’t-miss event for fans of classic big band music. Tickets are $25 at the door for this show hosted by the Chemainus Valley Cultural Arts Society. 

Don’t forget Boogie By The Bay Blues Jam happens every third Thursday of the month, hosted by Sasquatch Music. March’s edition kicks off on the 21st at 7 p.m. with a $10 cover at the door and free admission for jammers.

Rounding out the month with a very special treat on Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m., Black Angus takes the stage for a night of foot-stomping folk, Celtic, and Americana. Their enthusiastic performances transport audiences from Vancouver Island to Ireland and back again with a mix of lively folk tunes, heartfelt ballads, and blues-infused acoustic roots music. Featuring the dynamic duo of Gareth Hurwood and Alex MacCuaig, Black Angus is all about good friends, good humour and great songs. Get your tickets today on Eventbrite.
