The Megan Abel Band, with (clockwise from top left) Jon Treichel, Alex Ward, Neil Brun, Jared Wilman, Megan Abel and Adam Hokenson, is sharing a double bill with the Salmon Arm Community Band for this summer's first Wednesday on the Wharf concert at Marine Peace Park on July 2, 2025.

Around 50 musicians will be taking the gazebo stage at Salmon Arm's Marine Peace Park next week to help kick off this summer's Wednesday on the Wharf.

Presented by the Salmon Arm Arts Centre, the annual concert series is a summertime tradition that sees audiences of all ages gather at the park with their lawn chairs and blankets to take in a medley of live music under the warm evening sun.

The first concert, on July 2, will actually be two, beginning with the 45-plus members of the Salmon Arm Community Band.

"The first set will feature marches, scores and other audience favourites, along with special performances by three youth, all of whom are recent Shuswap Music Festival award winners: 13 year old pianist Nico Glanville, 18 year old vocalist Evje Knutson and 16 year old vocalist Joy Braby Pel," said the Salmon Arm Arts Centre in a media release.

"After the break at 7:30 p.m., the North Shuswap’s five piece Megan Abel Band will kick it up a notch with powerhouse vocals and the gritty sounds of outlaw-folk pop."

The concert series continues in July with Curtis Clear Sky & the Constellationz on the 9th, The Promised on the 16th, Empanadas Illegales on the 23rd and Big Little Lions on the 30th. In August, Tennyson King returns to Salmon Arm on the 6th, followed by Kutapira on the 13th and Jackson Hallow on the 20th.

The sun sets on this year's Wednesday on the Wharf series with a special Mini Powwow event.

Each of the events begin at 6:45 p.m., with donations collected at intermission to support the concert series. For more information, visit salmonarmartscentre.ca, or on Facebook and Instagram at @salmonarmartscentre.
