I take my hat off to the Broombusters, they deserve much praise... cutting broom is a very hard job, and I do not understand why the government doesn't do anything about it.

I used to see prisoners on the highway cutting it down.  Also, I think that people with broom on their property, or in front of it, should be responsible for its removal.

All these active young people in Parksville could get out a bit and help too, but you only see the older people out there, and I would join them if I could, but because of health reasons, it is not possible.

I am ashamed when I drive into Parksville, with all the broom that is located on the business lots.  I once owned a property in Parksville and had very little broom on it, and the city sent me a notice to remove it and it cost me a bit, but I was very glad I got that letter.

Therefore, I think the RDN should get on the bandwagon too and wake up the property owners or renters along the highway and they should be instructed to deal with it. I know we will never beat it, but it's nice to keep our district clear.

My heart goes out to all the Broombusters.

A concerned citizen...
