The man charged with the second-degree murder of Surrey's Tori Dunn is facing a new assault charge that appears to stem from an incident that occurred while he was in custody.
Adam Troy Mann was charged June 18 in connection with an April 22 assault on a peace officer in Surrey, according to court records online.
This is the second charge he is facing for assaulting a peace officer. In November 2024, he was charged with two counts of assault on Nov. 20, stemming from a July 13, 2024, incident in Surrey when he was in custody.
The April 22 assault also likely happened while he was in custody, as his release on bail had been denied in connection with the murder charges.
The B.C. Prosecution Service declined to comment further when contacted.
"As the matter is now before the court, the BC Prosecution Service will not be releasing any additional information or commenting further at this time," an email to the Now-Leader said.
Dunn, 30, was found with life-threatening injuries in her home in Port Kells on June 16. She later died in hospital.
Mann was charged with second-degree murder on June 28 in connection to Dunn's death.
Mann is currently in court on four unrelated charges, not including the assault. None of these charges have been proven in court, and a publication ban currently covers the details of these charges.
