Four years after taking over from Bryon Massie, Davy Lee is no longer the superintendent of the RCMP's Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment (UFVRD).
"He's had a great impact on the Upper Fraser Valley," said Inspector Darren Pankratz, acting superintendent. "And I know he's been passionate about the communities here. So, we're sad to see him go but we strictly support him in the next stage of his career."
Pankratz, who announced the news during the District of Hope council meeting on Feb.10, said that Lee stepped down after accepting a position with the RCMP FIFA 2026 Security Coordination and Operational Response (SCORE) back in December. The team is in charge of security for the 2026 FIFA world cup which is being hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Lee's career with the RCMP started in 1990 in Manitoba, where he worked as an officer in the communities of Morris, Island Lake, Norway House, Sprague, and Steinbach. He eventually earned the rank of inspector in 2012 and became the regional duty officer for the RCMP’s Lower Mainland detachment. Lee stayed in that position for three years before being promoted to the operations officer for the UFVRD. It was a position he held until 2021, before taking over as superintendent on July 26, 2021.
UFVRD's coverage area includes Chilliwack, Hope, Boston Bar, Harrison Hot Springs, the District of Kent and the communities represented by the Stó:lō and Nlaka’paumux First Nations.
