The 100 Mile House RCMP arrested a man with outstanding warrants after he fled a damaged vehicle as part of the 108 calls for service between May 20 and May 27, according to a media release compiled by Sgt. Brian Lamb.

The incident occurred on May 24, when BC Highway Patrol observed a vehicle parked on the side of Highway 97 near Lac La Hache. RCMP say the vehicle had significant damage and they stopped to investigate.

A male and female were observed on foot in the area of the vehicle and RCMP determined the registered owner of the vehicle, who matched the male, had outstanding warrants from Williams Lake and Alexis Creek. Lamb said officers attempted to speak with the male who then fled into a wooded area.

An RCMP helicopter, as well as police dog services, attended to assist with the search for the male, which resulted in him being located and arrested for the warrants. Lamb noted the male was held in custody after a bail hearing.

Hit and run on Horse Lake Road

On May 23, the RCMP received a report of a hit and run where an opposing vehicle described as a blue Dodge truck with a canopy sideswiped a vehicle in the opposing lane of travel. The Dodge truck did not stop. Lamb said no injuries were reported, but the vehicle did sustain damage.

RCMP issue impaired driver roadside prohibition

RCMP stopped a vehicle on Canim Hendrix Lake Road on May 24 after observing it leaving a liquor establishment. The driver was spoken to where symptoms of alcohol consumption had been observed. RCMP then conducted a breath test using an approved screening device, which resulted in a fail. The driver was issued an immediate roadside prohibition for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

ATV crash on Sheridan Lake Road

Also on May 24, RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle ATV crash on Sheridan Lake Road West.

RCMP attended alongside EHS and local fire departments, where two males were found with injuries. Both males were treated on scene and taken to hospital with undetermined injuries, believed not to be life-threatening.

Lamb said both males had been on the ATV at the time of the crash, and it is suspected that control was lost on the corner of the roadway, which caused both males to be ejected.

Stolen vehicle found; ATV and trailer remain missing

A vehicle was reported stolen on May 26 from a parking lot in the 90 block of Highway 97. A blue 2012 Dodge Ram, which had a camper attached, was taken. The truck was hauling a Marlon flat deck trailer and a green 2022 Polaris Ranger ATV.

The next day, RCMP received a report of an abandoned vehicle found on the power line near 90 Mile Loop Road. The truck and camper have been recovered, but the trailer and ATV remain missing. RCMP believe the vehicle was taken at approximately 4 a.m. on the date of the initial report.
