If you’re feeling lucky—and want to support a good cause—there’s still time to get in on Habitat for Humanity Okanagan’s You Win, We Build 50/50 lottery.

As of July 2, the jackpot has passed the $128,000 mark and is still climbing. Ticket sales close at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, July 7, with the winning ticket drawn at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9.

“You may see a jackpot number on the website, but what you’re really looking at is the foundation for the next home we’re going to build,” said Danielle Smith, resource development manager. “That’s the real win, giving families in our community the chance to build a safer, more stable futures for themselves.”

Since the lottery began in 2023, all the winners have been from the Okanagan, from Penticton to Vernon. And every ticket sold has helped local families move closer to owning a home—families who are often stuck in overcrowded, unsafe or unaffordable living situations.

These aren’t anonymous beneficiaries, a Habitat For Humanity media release states.

"They’re neighbours, coworkers, and fellow parents trying to raise kids while navigating an increasingly difficult housing market.”

Habitat homes are built with the help of volunteers, donors, and fundraising efforts. Proceeds from the 50/50 go directly toward building affordable housing in the region.
