International Picnic Day is reason to celebrate at Chimney Heights Park during a special event Saturday, June 14, at dinnertime.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., Surrey's parks department is hosting a two-hour gathering with music, games and more, at 14677 74 Ave., thanks to a grant from Participaction Community Challenge.

"Come out for free samosas for the first 150 attendees, free lemonade from The Quenchy Lemon for 100 attendees, magic show and close-up magic with Travis Bernhardt and mini-golf," says a post on the city's website.

Chimney Heights Park is where people can enjoy great views of the North Shore mountains, play ball at the baseball diamond and soccer field.

Speaking of free food, on Sunday (June 15) an entree for dads is on the house at Par4 Kitchen & Bar in Surrey, in a Father's Day deal that also includes a free glass of beer. The dine-in offer must be claimed on Eventbrite for redemption at the restaurant, with one free meal for dads per $50 table spend.

The Father's Day menu includes butter chicken, fish curry, grilled chicken, Nashville chicken burger, salmon burger and other options, on the southeast corner of Highway 10 and 152 Street.
