So much to see and do on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds during 'Rodeo Weekend'

The 2025 Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair is here. One of Western Canada's biggest events returns this May long weekend (May 16-19).

Known locally as “Rodeo Weekend,” the 77th rodeo and the 134th fair promises “something for everyone.”

From Live music and live entertainment to food galore and the “Four Bs” of rodeo, there will be alot happening on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds over the long weekend.

Kathy Sheppard, president of the Cloverdale Rodeo and Exhibition Association (CREA), said she’s looking forward to welcoming everyone to Cloverdale.

“We’re just excited to be able to have people back again,” she said. “We’re three years in now and we’re getting bigger and better each year.”

She said CREA is adding new events and features to the rodeo each year, both expanding and elevating one of B.C.'s most iconic events.

“You’re getting so much value for your Fairgrounds admission ticket,” Sheppard added. “You could spend all day on the grounds going to the different stages and seeing the different shows for no additional cost.”

(A Cloverdale Fairgrounds admission ticket is $15 online in advance, or $20 at the gate—all plus taxes. Kids 12 and under get onto the grounds free of charge. Separate tickets are required to visit the Longhorn Saloon, attend rodeo performances, or to get on West Coast Amusement's midway rides.

CREA expects more than 65,000 people to walk through Cloverdale Fairgrounds’ gates over the weekend.

More than 300 volunteers will be out in full force making the event run smoothly.

Not sure what to do at Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair? There are five rodeo competitions, an Indigenous village, live music performances, more than 40 food trucks, a midway with more than 30 carnival rides, family-friendly events, and entertainment acts all weekend.

Cloverdale will host 96 cowboys and cowgirls. The athletes will compete in five rodeo performances over the weekend. Several past rodeo champions have been invited.

The rodeo parade will be held May 17 at 10 a.m. and will include floats, marching bands, dance groups, clowns, cowboys and cowgirls on horses, and some classic automobiles. The parade will begin at 177B Street and Hwy 10.

The first Cloverdale Rodeo was held in 1945 and the first Country Fair was held in 1888.

The familiar May long weekend event will have its unofficial opening when the Cloverdale Bed Races roll up and down 176A Street Thursday, May 15, beginning at about 5:30 p.m.
