Thousands of voters in ridings across the province have cast their votes ahead of Saturday's election day, and Fraser-Nicola is no exception.

In the brand new riding stretching from Dewdney to the Fraser Canyon, 8,760 voters have cast their ballots in the first four days of advance voting, according to recent data from Elections B.C. More than 2,000 voters cast their ballots on the first day of advance voting (Oct. 11), and numbers remained above 1,000 per day for the first three days before dropping to 763 just before Thanksgiving. Tuesday (Oct. 15) saw another surge with 1,402 electors voting. The final day was the second busiest advance voting day with 1,686 ballots cast.

In a social media post on Oct. 11, Elections B.C. said 171,381 voters across the province cast their ballots on the first day of advance voting. This is the most ever advance votes collected in a B.C. election, far surpassing 2017's record of 126,491. This record was surpassed as Tuesday (Oct. 15) saw the most votes ever on an advance voting day in a B.C. election with 181,669 ballots cast, breaking a record set only a few days before.

More than 1 million British Columbians voted ahead of Election Day, which Elections B.C. says is the most ever in a provincial election.

There are a total of 32,742 registered voters in the Fraser-Nicola riding. This means ahead of election day alone, there's already been a turnout of about 26.8 per cent. Total voter turnout in the 2020 provincial election was 53.86 per cent, the lowest turnout since 1996 (the year 71.5 per cent of registered voters cast their ballots).
